PARKINSON'S DISEASE

Parkinson's disease presents a range of motor and non-motor impairments, ranging from lack of speech to a sudden change in behavior. Careful monitoring, management and control of the disease can enhance your loved one's quality of life and ability to remain safe and independent at home.

At Partners in Care, we can create a Plan of Care specifically designed for keeping the symptoms of Parkinson's disease in check. We will assign a specially trained home health aide or skilled nurse, depending upon the type of care you need or desire, to help you manage your condition. Our home care professionals coordinate with your medical team, help you prevent complications and reduce stress by supporting you and your loved one.

A typical plan may include:

  • Help following a customized exercise regimen created either by a Partners in Care physical therapist or another physical therapist you may choose to work with, to keep muscles flexible and prevent rigidity.
  • Identifying safety risks, such as slippery floors, obstructed passageways, and improper footwear.
  • Demonstrating strategies that ease difficult transitions, such as sitting, standing or getting into the shower.
  • Offering encouragement, patience and compassion to help lessen the emotional stress of living with Parkinson's disease.
